The outstanding musical interplay of Hilario's stellar Trio makes a journey through various music styles from Afro-Cuban
chants to Danzon, Bolero, Cha-Cha-Cha in a Latin jazz show with Afro-Cuban music and elements of Modern Jazz.
Together, bassist Roberto Occhipinti and drummer Mark Kelso are an additional gift for this amazing Trio led by the Toronto-based Hilario Duran, one of the most innovative and genuine piano virtuosos of our times.
The Trio is one of Hilario's most expressive musical formations; this musical format offers a glimpse of future directions for Cuban-inflected music. One of his albums, "New Danzon," won the Juno Award for Best Jazz Album of the Year 2005, and "Motion," the second album of the Trio, was Juno nominated. The music of the Trio is a revelation, a tried, tested well-oiled machine that exudes camaraderie and sixth sense. Duran has perfect soul mates in drummer Mark Kelso and bassist Roberto Occhipinti. The empathy between them is not only the key to resolution; it helps take the music to an enthralling high.
